Why join Zonta?

2. Zonta is looking for new members who are willing to contribute energy and ideas to carry out the club's service projects and uphold the mission on Zonta International.

Qualifications for Membership:

1. Occupation of prospective member must be as an executive or professional in a decision-making capacity.

2. Prospective member must be actively engaged (working at least 50 percent of a normal work week) in the business or professional represented by the classifications, which includes volunteer work.

3. The classification of the business or profession must be recognized.

4. Prospective member must be willing to support and implement the Objectives of Zonta International.

5. Member must participate in Zonta Club of Midland's Homewalk held the first weekend in December.

6. Member must actively participate on a club committee.


Process for New Members:

1. Prospective members will be invited to business and dinner meetings to experience the club in action.

2.
Zonta member submits Application and Induction fee for Membership to Membership Committee, with prospective member's approval.

3. Membership committee accepts applications. Deadlines are in early October, early December and early April.

4. Applications are classified according to occupations.

5. Membership Committee presents applications to the Board for approval.

6. Acceptance of membership and dues from prospective members are obtained.

7. A new person is not officially a member of Zonta until all dues and International, District, and the club have been paid.

8. New members are inducted. The Membership Committee determines the time of formal induction into club membership, but once the dues are paid, the person is a member with full membership privileges and responsibilities, regardless of the date of the formal induction.

9. The sponsoring member will act as a mentor for the first year.

10. Orientation meeting is conducted for new and sponsoring members. New members receive a packet of information, including a copy of:

● The International Bylaws
● Information about the responsibilities of club membership and International service projects

11. New members are assigned to a committee.

12. Information on new members is sent to Zonta International and Club record book is updated.


Facts about Zonta:

1. Zonta is an international organization with approximately 35,000 members in 68 countries. The Zonta Club of Midland has approximately 90 members.

2. Two member meetings per month:

● Business meeting the 1st Tuesday of each month at 11:30 am at the Midland Country Club.
● Dinner meeting the 3rd Tuesday of each month beginning at 5:30 with dinner at 7:00 at the Midland Country Club.

3. Three new-member inductions each year:

● October dinner meeting
● January dinner meeting
● April business meeting

Candidates have a sponsor and go through a classification process with membership approval and are then invited to join. A new member will receive the Zonta pin at the time of the induction ceremony.

4. Three new-member orientation meetings each year (November, February, May).

5. Dues:

● Induction Fee, $50
● Annual dues, $320 (if desired, payable in two installments, by the 1st Tuesday in April and November).

Dues and missed meals may be paid online using the Paypal "Add to Cart" button. Paypal service fees have been added to each option to cover processing costs.
