 The Zonta Homewalk features five spectacular homes exquisitely decorated for the holidays for virtual tours December 4th - 31st

The 40th Homewalk celebration includes five spectacular area homes including one that was featured in the very first tour. Zonta has partnered with Tridge Media Productions for the home videos which are led by the homeowners who share with you what they love about their homes.

New as of December 1st:

The Zonta Club of Midland has come to the difficult decision to proceed with a virtual Homewalk only and cancel the in-person tours. We make this decision out of an abundance of caution and concern for the health of our homeowners, volunteers, and guests. Many of our volunteers have had to cancel because of COVID-19 exposures.

Ticket holders can enjoy all five spectacular homeowner led tours from the comforts of home and at their own pace from December 4th through the 31st. Videos can be watched as many times as you like so break out the popcorn and beverage of choice and enjoy! Access the virtual tours at ZontaClubofMidland.org.
The 2nd Annual Holiday Auction features gifts for you and your family. Select from activities and experiences right here in Midland to travel opportunities throughout the midwest.

You can learn to Scuba dive, watch some baseball, drink some wine, paint with your friends, drink some more wine. clean up the house and take care of yourself, get out of town and head up north, get up and out of town in a small plane, pamper yourself at Riverside Place, learn about nature, relax at the symphony, decorate for Christmas, watch a little more baseball, checkout the Alden B. Dow Home & Studio and join the flowers of the month club!

As a result of Homewalk and the Holiday Festival, $265,000 has been awarded to women throughout the community, of all ages, to pursue and finish their education. Zonta members volunteer their time to a number of local initiatives, and as a club, have donated more than $232,000 to support programs and projects that enhance the status of women and their families in the surrounding communities.

40th Anniversary Homes

4000 Orchard Drive – The Ashmun Home 1964
Folded into the wooded wonderland of Orchard Drive, the Heber Ashmun House is a Mid-Century Modern masterwork by one of Midland’s premier architects, Jackson B. Hallett. A pallet of exceptional building materials; Onaway Stone, Philippine Mahogany, Vertical Grain Fir, and Redwood, highlight the remarkable built-in furniture, detailing and craftmanship throughout the home. The living room, raised a few steps above the main level, anchors the house and is flanked by a flagstoned gallery connecting north and south wings. It’s composition of materials, stone fireplace and vaulted ceiling set stage of beauty and design throughout. The north wing features three bedrooms including a master bedroom with adjoining dressing room and bath. Built-in furniture and large-scale windows create function and beauty in every space. At the south wing, the kitchen is adjacent to both informal and formal dining areas as well as a screened porch for your immersion into the natural surroundings.

1227 W. Sugnet – The MacCallum Home

The MacCallum home is a showcase of Alden B. Dow’s mastery of design, privacy and use of space. A sense of warmth and security is achieved throughout although you are never without a connection to the natural surroundings. The compression of the entry is at once transitioned into the light-filled and angled ceiling of main living space. Exquisitely designed and crafted floor-to-ceiling windows detailed with square red glass at the top, bathe the space in warm, dynamic light. Louisiana Red Cypress detailing cohesively blends spaces together and adds richness throughout. Early use of glass block adds to the natural lighting of spaces while retaining privacy. A staircase leading up to the master suite is deceptively woven into the central fireplace and hearth area complete with beautifully built-in shelving. The suite, perched atop the bedroom wing, takes full advantage of the two-story screen porch that is also accessible on the main level.

4200 Berkshire Court – The Castle Home 1956
​Upon return to his native Midland from dual job transfers, a love for Mid-Century Modern led this homeowner to purchase a second prime example. Designed by architect Glenn (Red) Beach, A.I.A., this three-bedroom, bi-level block home is private from the street, with repeating bands of light-catching windows placed near the roofline. Yet, venturing in, you are immersed in nature by windows that stretch, uninterrupted, across both levels of the park-facing rear of the house.
