Join us for an opportunity of a lifetime to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Robert Schwartz’s most iconic and innovative feat, the Dome Home! The dome itself is a strong structure, having survived the 1986, 2017 and 2020 floods, made of Dow Chemical’s Styrofoam using spiral generation and then strengthened with rebar and spray concrete! Come enjoy this jaw-dropping 3-story home where 4300 square feet of living space float inside a dome with only minimal touch points! Internal support posts and a central spiral staircase support the bright and lively living spaces once occupied by Robert Schwartz and his family. The homeowers purchased the once very private Dome Home, from Schwartz’s widow, Barbara. Come immerse yourself in the loving and playful personalities that can be seen throughout the home and appreciate the great care, preservation, and forward preventative measures used to ensure that this great masterpiece will continue to stand the test of time and will forever be recognized on the National Register of Historic Places!

Nestled in the heart of Midland’s downtown historic district sits this stunning 3,000 sq foot craftsman style bungalow built in 2021 by Greystone Homes. The expansive porch and real wood front door welcome you as you arrive. Upon entry, you are immediately invited to embrace the owners love for music and art by the showcase of many wonderful instruments that often flood the home with the joyous sounds of their children learning to play and Dad practicing for the Midland Community Orchestra. Appreciate the salvaged antique doors, 1800s glass doorknobs, and phone nook that are just a few of the touches that the homeowners have added to create period-appropriate character and charm to the home. The upper level displays their love for art and play as seen in the handmade animal artwork on the walls in the children’s bedrooms and the expansive playroom providing the perfect space for creative imaginative play with views of Dow Garden’s butterfly house. While touring the open kitchen and living room, admire in awe the huge solid piece of quartz that tops the kitchen island where holiday cookies are made and the custom pantry door built to hold a beloved antique piece of stained glass. In the backyard, you will see the colorful unique bottle art partition that accentuates the view of Dow Gardens.

This is one for history enthusiasts! The Thomas McCann home was completed in 1904. The impressive Neo-Classic Revival home was designed by Clarence L. Cowles of Saginaw for Mr. McCann, a noted Midland clothier. Though 120 years old, this lovingly maintained home has been owned by only six families. While the home has been updated with a few historically sympathetic additions, it maintains its original footprint of over 5000 square feet and offers 5 bedrooms and 3 1/2 bathrooms. Enjoy the amazing craftsmanship of the woodwork, from the coffered embossed ceilings and built-in benches to the over-sized pocket doors between rooms. The one-of-a-kind conservatory, built to incorporate the original stone porch foundations, is the homeowners’ favorite place to sit and relax. While strolling through the dining room, take a moment to appreciate the large 1904 mirror strategically and aesthetically placed to reflect light into the space. The “Music Room” holds a Christmas tree full of colorful ornaments with special memories and the “Whiskey Room” is adorned with an historic, silk-screened green wallpaper. Artwork throughout the house reflects places the homeowners have lived or visited. Be sure to stop by the large fireplace to admire the many Nativities collected during the family’s travels before heading up the grand staircase to see the bedrooms. Finish the tour in the heart of the home, the recently remodeled kitchen, filled with the aromas of spices and coffees, which is sure to leave you with a nostalgic memory of your very own!

Here is your chance to stroll up the private road and immerse yourself in Alden B Dow’s 1935 spectacular artful design known as the MacCallum Residence. A well-balanced mixture of warm brick, glass block, colored glass, mirrors, and Louisiana Red Cypress carry you throughout the 4,000 square foot L-shaped home, evoking a sense of wonder and enlightenment. A unique feature to this home not to miss is the narrow staircase deceptively woven into the central fireplace and hearth that leads to the primary bedroom. From there, you can walk out to the 2-story screened porch where relaxation and nature coincide harmoniously. While in the bedroom, take time to appreciate the use of multiple angles that bounce, absorb, and reflect the natural light that pours into just one of the many thoughtfully designed spaces of this sprawling masterpiece. The artwork and iconic mid-century furniture pieces throughout are certainly worth a note as you tour, illustrating the time period’s common use of bold primary colors. While admiring the red bubble sofa, look above to admire the 5-L logo livestock brand from the family farm in Kansas, adding a nice personal owner’s touch to this nationally registered historic home.

After the completion of a 5 year renovation project, this grand traditional 2-story home is nothing shy of spectacular! When you enter, you are immediately immersed in the abundance of natural light that pours in through the large windows of the formal living room and entryway. The home, and particularly the lower level, is magically transformed into a Christmas wonderland annually on October 31 and was designed and decorated to evoke emotions - the feelings of peace and serenity, kindness and stillness. Highlights of the home include a game room that stirs tween envy, a brick floored mudroom that could be showcased in magazines, and a cozy chef’s kitchen with custom furniture hood and farm sink that opens to a beautifully tree-decorated family room with coffered ceilings and more large plate windows. When admiring the view of the huge backyard, find the cluster of 3 birch trees and look for the natural cross on the trunk of the far left tree that in the homeowner’s heart symbolizes that God is always watching over. The gathering of friends and family takes place in the lower level featuring 10 ft ceilings, a world-class home gym, wine cellar, and fireplace accented with chocolate bordeaux granite. Admire how Kathy Morley of Morley Portraiture captured the joyous spirit of the holiday in her portrait and the unique stone granite on the bath vanity. This is surely a home that you will not want to miss!
